Accessibility Statement
York & Fig News is committed to making yorkandfignews.com usable by the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities.
Standard we follow
We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA published by the W3C. We review the site regularly against that standard.
What we've done
- Semantic HTML landmarks (nav, main, section, footer) with ARIA labels.
- Skip-to-main-content link for keyboard users.
- Alternative text on every image; decorative elements marked aria-hidden.
- Logical heading hierarchy and descriptive link text.
- Visible focus indicators for keyboard navigation.
- Responsive layout that works with zoom, high-contrast mode, and assistive tech.
Known gaps we're working on
Third-party embeds (for example, the beehiiv newsletter signup form) are provided by outside vendors whose accessibility we do not fully control. We choose vendors with accessibility as a stated priority and re-evaluate periodically. A Spanish-language version of the site is planned but not yet available.
